Fear

Sat, 11/17/2012 - 10:12 — Carrie

What do you do when your life feels like it's spiraling in a direction that you weren't expecting, and you're not really sure where you'll end up?

What do you do when things you thought were written in stone slip from your grasp?

What do you do when you can see a plan, a future, laid out in front of you, but you're not there yet, and there's nothing you can do right now to help it.

What do you do when you know everything about your life is about to change, but you have no idea how?

Shame

Tue, 06/05/2012 - 17:39 — Carrie

We have all felt guilt. Pretty much every person who has ever lived has felt some measure of guilt for something they have done. Whether it's a minor sin as a child, like hitting their brother, or stealing an extra cookie; or a more major thing as an adult, we've all done things wrong, and we've all felt bad at one point or another for them.

Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down

Swing high, little boy, and pump those little legs,

Splash down in the puddle on the ground.

Watch leaves floating by in the tiny little stream

And stomp through mud that's glopping all around.

Laugh loud, little girl, at the raindrops on your nose,

Your tangled mess of hair that will not dry.

Now watch as your art, once bright chalk, gets washed away,

And dance with your umbrella held up high.

Run fast, little ones, through the door and wipe your shoes,

The booming sky is driving us inside.

Meandering through my mind

Thu, 03/01/2012 - 20:43 — Carrie

Sometimes I just need to write. This is one of those times.

I'm waiting. Are you waiting? I think everyone is waiting. At any given moment, I could probably name at least 10 things I'm waiting for. From the simple, little things, like waiting for dinner to be done, to big things, like waiting for the right person to come into your life that you'll want to love forever. I'm always waiting.

The wedding of the century

Tue, 05/24/2011 - 13:13 — Carrie

I recently went down to Alabama for a secret event. Very secret. Almost no one knew about it. And even fewer people were invited. In fact, the only ones invited were those who almost daily conversed with the two main participants in the event. It was rather odd keeping it a secret. Kinda adventurous, but still odd. I knew I was concentrating too much on keeping it a secret when I almost didn't tell the guy at the rental car counter why I was down in Alabama. ^_^

He is not here! He is risen, as He said!

Sun, 04/24/2011 - 19:12 — Carrie

Just picture it. The disciples, locked into a room. Scared, worried, and completely unsure of the future. Suddenly, there's footsteps. The door is opened, and Mary Magdalene and the other Mary tumble into the room. "He's alive! He's alive!" Perhaps out of breath, for they no doubt had run. "Really! There's an angel, and the stone is moved, and he's gone, and he's alive! We saw him! Come, Peter, John, you have to come see!"

Waiting...

Sat, 04/23/2011 - 08:26 — Carrie

Now is the time of waiting. It's the period between the death and the resurrection. The stillness in the air is electrifying. You can almost feel the tension as the disciples wait in the upper room. Scared. Sad. Disillusioned. Freaked out.

Their leader has just been killed. They never thought it was possible! What happened to his grand promises of redemption? What happened to his teachings on everlasting life? Sure, he said something about rising in three days, but seriously? He's dead. How could that happen?

Celebrating Christ's Death...?

Fri, 04/22/2011 - 11:35 — Carrie

Celebrating Christ's death. Is this something that we, as Christians, ought to do? We do call it Good Friday, after all. It's the day we traditionally remember that Christ died, and we have a special holiday then. Why? Why do we commemorate Christ's death? And ought it to be a celebration?

Continuing my Easter theme...

Wed, 04/20/2011 - 14:41 — Carrie

I'm gonna skip ahead a day in Easter week and address the last supper. Some people would say that the last supper actually took place on Wednesday evening, and I've got the correct day, but since tomorrow's post will be about the same evening as the last supper, than one of my posts will necessarily be off. Anyway.
